Cycling around Germany for children with rare diseases

The Campaign

30 years ago, on 20.11.1989, the United Nations adopted the Convention on the Rights of the Child. All countries in the world, with the exception of the USA, ratified the document. Much has happened in world politics since 1989, but what has happened since then with regard to children's rights? How does the right of the child to the "highest obtainable standard of health" affect the everyday life of children with rare and chronic diseases? Jörg Richter wants to pursue this question in this year's bike tour for children with rare diseases.

Since 2015, the hobby sportsman from Würzburg (Germany) has dedicated his spectacular cycling tours to the "orphans of medicine", as children with rare diseases are also called. Together with the Care-for-Rare Foundation, Richter wants to ensure that these children receive more attention. This year, between May and September, he will be visiting the capitals of all countries bordering Germany on a round trip from Munich. On his way, the cyclist will visit children with rare diseases, their parents, doctors and nurses. He will also report about his experiences via social media:
