YES, WE CARE! Photo campaign for children with rare diseases

We demand more attention for children with rare diseases!

Too often, the "orphans of medicine" cannot be helped because their diseases have not been researched and therapies are lacking. We do not want to accept this! In order to bring affected children out of their shadowy existence, we are launching an international campaign: "YES, WE CARE!" is the motto with which we call on people worldwide to express their solidarity with the orphans of medicine.

Your photo helps!

Joining in is very easy: people all over the world should take pictures with the campaign logo and publish their picture on our campaign website. The result is a large online gallery of supporters who work together for children with rare diseases and say: "YES, WE CARE!"
We want to show affected families that they are not alone. At the same time, the campaign signifies to the public, the economy and politics that sick children have a lobby - an important step on the way to structural changes in the care of children with rare diseases!

Sarah's story

Four-year-old Sarah gave us her face for the campaign. From birth, the girl suffers from a very rare lung disease, pulmonary alveolar proteinosis. For a long time the cause of the disease could not be found, Sarah had to undergo regular extremely strenuous treatments in order to be able to breathe properly. The prognosis: Without healing therapy Sarah would hardly survive her childhood.
Sarah was very lucky: doctors and scientists at the Dr. von Hauner Children's Hospital in Munich were able to detect a new genetic defect responsible for the severe disease. The knowledge of the cause of the disease now enables a life-saving therapy with good chances of recovery.
